Are you planning of setting up your home studio?Setting up a studio at home at first may seem like something only an expert can do, but it can be quite simple if you have the know-how and this blog is about to give you just that.
If you are just starting out start with the basics that you need to get the job done, you do not buy expensive equipments yet; just the essentials.You can produce, record, edit, manipulate and mix in a lines room in your house using just a few basic equipments.


Computer Set or Laptop

First on the component list is a computer or laptop. Use whichever that is available or that suits you best.Also make note of the specifications as this is important when buying your DAW. A good amount of memory is always useful as audio recording can quickly take up a lot of space.


2 Digital Audio Workstation (DAW)

DAW is an essential program you need to record, edit, mix, and master your music. A digital audio workstation (D.A.W.) is an electronic device or computer software application for recording, editing and producing audio files such as songs, musical pieces, human speech or sound effects.Types of DAWs on the market are: Logic Pro, Cubase, Ableton Live, Pro Tools, Sonar, Audition. However, we suggest that you buy the most compatible program with your computer, your budget.



3 Audio Interface

An audio interface is a piece of hardware that expands and improves the sonic capabilities of a computer. Some audio interfaces give you the ability to connect professional microphones, instruments and other kinds of signals to a computer, and output a variety of signals as well.We suggest that you buy the most compatible audio interface with your DAW.


4 Studio Microphone

Next on the list a microphones, these are important as they convert sound waves into electrical energy variations which may then be amplified, transmitted, or recorded.


5 Earphones

The earphones can be used for recording vocals/instruments, for listening to your music when you're producing or after the final edits, Since you are just beginning to record at home, starting small and simple is fine. You don’t need to buy expensive component instantly.


Here are two bonus components that you will need but are not necessarily essential when starting out.you can get these cheap and they will give you cleaner recordings and more clarity when mixing down; in terms of what you are hearing.


6 Monitor - (Speakers)

Studio monitors are loudspeakers specifically designed for audio production applications, such as recording studios, filmmaking, television studios, radio studios and project or home studios, where accurate audio reproduction is crucial; which will allow you to create a better mix of your music.


7 Acoustic Treatment

Treating your rooms acoustics with the use of absorbers, diffusers, and reflectors will help give a room the desired sound and, that can overall be better for your recording as well as mixing.

How To Produce A Hit Dancehall Riddim - [VIDEO]

Quick note before we get into it: I didn't went into too many details, this is only an overview of how I might put together a quick riddim. For this demonstration I kept the overall production simple, and I also produced it within protools. About Dancehall If you know about producing music you will know certain instrumentations, sounds and patterns dictate what is known as genres. In dancehall the drums and the bass together form the overall structure and backbone of the song as it is in most dance music. All other instruments sort of take a secondary place or plays a supportive role. Timeframe This took me 45 minutes to an hour to choose and put the instruments together then play them in the dancehall style. It Took another hour to mix the various sounds to how I want them to sound.
